Mike Rusher is the Chief Client Engagement Officer (CCEO), responsible for driving client satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term relationships. He leads efforts to understand and meet client needs, ensures consistent communication, and aligns internal teams to deliver value. Reporting to the CEO, Mike strengthens the client experience and plays a central role in enhancing the customer journey across the organization.

Rusher’s career began with business internships and campaign management in college. He quickly advanced to leadership roles in state and national political committees that reshaped North Carolina’s political landscape. Following the pivotal 2010 elections, he was appointed to establish and lead the constituent communications office for the State Senate leader.

In 2017, Rusher joined TRC, bringing experience as Communications Director for North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality. His leadership in developing public relations on high-stakes environmental issues solidified his reputation in public policy and strategic communications. 

A political science graduate from UNC Greensboro, Rusher was appointed Trustee of the North Carolina Land and Water Fund in 2021 and serves as Chairman of the North Carolina FreeEnterprise Foundation.

He helped launch the Town of Apex’s inaugural Environmental Advisory Board and resides there with his wife and daughter.
