Case Study: Starting a Nonprofit
The best tactical path to success depends on the goal and strategy of a particular undertaking. On occasion, launching a nonprofit is the most sensible way to focus resources on a mission, and The Results Company has deep expertise in nonprofit formation and management.
Right now, we operate a half dozen nonprofit organizations, each of which have very different missions, but all have a shared goal of improving economic and educational opportunities for North Carolinians – fully in line with the vision of The Results Company.
It’s operational expertise, not mission statements, that determine a nonprofit’s success. Management, communications, fundraising, and execution are all prerequisites for effective advocacy, and that’s the value The Results Company adds.

One example, the Marine Estuary Foundation, features a robust staff with extensive subject matter expertise to lead the organization. The Results Company supports its operations with mission focus and precise tactics. In just a few years, the Foundation has established itself as a key player in policy action and data analysis that will determine the health of North Carolina’s fisheries for decades to come.
In 2022, the Foundation launched Findex, a trademarked data communications tool that signals the population health of species critical to the recreational and commercial fishing industries. The organization’s popular public education events, held throughout the state, attract hundreds of participants who are actively engaged in a shared mission to make North Carolina home to world-class fisheries. They have forged never before seen partnerships with the state and fishery industry leaders – all to support and improve the economic position of coastal communities, and in turn, the entire state.
